Malacca Vacation

phew

finished my 1 week vacation yesterday by stopping by at my inlaws house in alor star
its been a busy and interesting week all along

its started on tuesday mornin (6 May 2008) when i started my journey to our holiday week from my house in bertam, kepala batas..
we moved out at 4.00am and stop by at Mc Donalds Seberang Jaya to have our early breakfast..
then, as we move along toward KL thru North - South Highway, i drove our kelisa confortablely as my wife sleep on my side.. it was a relaxing drive as its still dark early in the morning.. we stop at tapah to take our 2nd breakfast and rest my feet.. then it was all the way to malacca.. we exit on malacca Air Keroh tol at about 12.00pm and we started lookin for our hotel location.. uh, we already booked ourself a room for 2 days at a hotel named Aldy Hotel, from the comments i've read in the website, it was a good hotel with good location in the middle of malacca town.. the search was over for just about 15 mins as we found the hotel without any problem..
as it was only 12.30 and we can only check in at 2.00pm, we decided to have our lunch 1st somewhere in the town while i try to familiarize the malacca town roads.. we stop by at pahlawan shopping complex and had our lunch at a restaurant named Johnny Steamboat.. the noodles there is good and i would recommend it to my frens.. we then rushed back to the hotel and check ourself in.. the room is confortable and cozy enuf for a 2-3 star hotel, but we didnt really look into it anyway, the main point of selecting this hotel is because of the location, not the condition..
so, for the 1st day, we just relax in our room and we do spent our night outside and havin our dinner at the famous quayside restaurant next to malacca river.. it has great food and a live band from the bandaraya malacca local council is playin there every night.. such an experience..

the next day we woke up early, had our free breakfast at the restaurant just infront our hotel and move on the interesting location all over malacca.. we went to the mini malaysia, malacca zoo and we took our lunch at an exciting place/restaurant located in the middle of jonker street.. we get back to our hotel for the evenin as my wife complaint havin a leg pain (because of walkin at the mini malaysia and zoo..) that night we had our dinner at a place call the portuguese settlements.. its actually a fishing/heritage village where the portuguese ppl still live and work there.. the food is marvelous and we found out that these portuguese ppl are quite friendly.. they even greet and welcomes us just after we get out of our car.. hehe.. we had kerang bakar, cheese crab and steamed fish (it was a weird fish, the one which we only knew as a ikan kering) but anyway, the night is excellent for us..
next day is the last day of our trip to malacca, so we had our bfast early, get up back to our room (my wife insist on having her bath in the jacuzzi on top of the hotel roof.. so i had to wait for the bath) we then pack our things, check out and paid the room bills..

we then continue our sightseeing around malacca town, we went to the naval/maritime museum, stadhuys, the malacca royal palace museum and not forgotten, the famous ruin of fort a famosa.. we end up havin our lunch at the end of jonker street, near the malacca river..
we decided as the time is still early, we will go back to the seremban town thru port dicksona and then will get back on the highway when we reached seremban to nilai.. we even stop for a quick fresh up at the port dickson beach (theres a famous ayam bakar just beside the main road, best chicken wings!!) we then reached nilai at about 7.00PM.. we headed to our frens house near the hulu langat town (i cant remember the place name).. we had our dinner some place near her house and we even took a night air at the putrajaya.. it was the 1st time for me and my wife to see those impressive and costly govt building there..
the next day, after a quick bfast with my fren (she had to go for work that day.. pity her) we travel thru the highway to kl, where my wife sleep all the way to sg besi toll exit (again!) and like an highly knowledgeable driver i manage to found our way to damansara and ikea finally.. we arrived at ikea at 11.00AM and browse the stuff over there.. my wife (and me) managed to burst our money (RM200) to buy ikeas stuffs.. we then have our lunch at the foodcourt.. we then windowshop our way to ikano and at about 4.00PM we exited ikea and on our way to penang.. the journey back to penang is quite boring as my wife as always sleep all the way till the tapah r&r.. we finally ended our journey/holiday arriving to our lovely home in bertam at about 8.30PM..

there, the whole log on our holiday trip to malacca
we agreed that malacca has already change a lot from our days back in the 90's.. but those change still bein controlled and the historical and lovely heritage is kept good..
hope we can visit malacca again and told our sons bout the changes that happen on this historical city..

cya :)
