Salam Eid Fitri

its nearly the time now after a month of hungry and self constrained.. the month of ramdhan is nearly over.. then come shawal which marked the 1st day of raya or eid fitri..

Eid ul-Fitr or Id-Ul-Fitr (Arabic: عيد الفطر ‘Īdu l-Fiṭr), often abbreviated as simply Eid, is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting. Eid is an Arabic term meaning "festivity" or "celebration" while Fiṭr means "to break the fast" and can also mean "nature" from the word "fitrat" and therefore symbolizes the breaking of the fasting period. On the day of the celebration, a typical Muslim family is awake very early and then after praying the first normal everyday prayer, is required to eat in a small quantity, symbolizing the end of Ramadan. They then attend special congregational prayers held only for this occasion in mosques, in large open areas, stadiums or arenas. The prayer is generally short, and is followed by a sermon (khuṭba). Worshippers greet and embrace each other in a spirit of peace and love after the congregational prayer. After the special prayers, festivities and merriment are commonly observed with visits to the homes of relatives and friends to thank God for all blessings.

For Muslims, Eid ul-Fitr is a joyous occasion with important religious significance, celebrating of the achievement of enhanced piety. It is a day of forgiveness, moral victory, peace of congregation, fellowship, brotherhood and unity. Muslims celebrate not only the end of fasting, but also thank God for the help and strength that they believe he gave them throughout the previous month to help them practice self-control. It is a time of giving and sharing, and many Muslims dress in holiday attire.

i remember back at the time i was a child, the hari raya is the most happening day of the year.. i got to wear my new clothes, i got to go wandering the neighbourhood to collect "duit raya" and that day also is the time to visit all my relative whether they are close or far.. we would travel crossed the states to visit relatives.. that was very enjoyable.. to think of ppl that i even dont remember to gave me "duit raya".. wow!!

but now, all the happiness is clearly started to fade.. childs often wait in their own house to watch tv programmes.. the father and mother had too much quarrel with their relatives till they didnt even want to see their relatives face.. new clothes can be bought all year around as the supermarket and stores are havin all year promos and discount.. damn..

actually all this happen for a reason.. we had to pay this "things" called memories for the development and progress we have achieved.. the cable tvs are now compulsory to every house in the country.. we didnt have time to mingle and speak to our families and relatives, mostly becoz of jobs and works.. we also had too much pay for our jobs so we can buy our childs stuff whenever they ask for it.. its all good things.. but at the other side of it, we lose somethin else..

yep, nothin to worry about.. all those memories will never comes back and we had to keep our heads on the future.. i just hope that our childs would get to celebrate eid fitri happily..

happy hari raya!

cya!
